Some of you may or may not know, Hayden has a flat head, more technically known as Brachycephaly. It's a form of Plagiocephaly (abnormal head shape).
There are many different causes...most common, probably in Hayden's case, is sleeping position on her back. Of which peditricians recommend infants sleep soley on their backs because it has greatly reduced SIDS stats.
Anyway...this is something we've been aware of early on. We noticed it getting flatter and flatter and Dr. Sara had a watchful eye out for Hayden.
We decided this needed to be done to prevent any future issues. Allthough our doctors & clinicians have told us that her flat head WOULD NOT harm her brain development in any way.
It was a no brainer for us. We had to do it. So here we are.
Hayden will have to wear her DOC Band anywhere between 2.5 to 3 months.
She has to wear it 23 hours a day. An hour off for bathing and cleaning of the band.
So far tonight she's already woken up only after about 40 minutes of sleep but sleeping now.
I predict tonight will be a long night.
They say most babies take 2-4 days to get used to it. Their heads will sweat alot at first and then the body adjusts. Sleeping is supposed to be the hardest in the first couple days.
Wish us luck. But I'm sure we'll all be just fine.
The end result should be a beautiful round little baby head.
She worth it.

She plays pretty well in there. Yeah!
Love this face...Doin the raspberries!
First time in a big bathtub. We were soaking Hayden in a corn starch bath because earlier in the week I had slathered her in Burt's Bees Apricot Baby Lotion and she rashed out BAD! Poor baby...she has super sensitive skin. From now on it's Aveeno only.
